Shannon is an expert in autism policy and clinical practice, having previously worked as the Policy Associate and Project Manager at the Autism Legal Resource Center, as well as the acting Executive Director of the National Autism Law Center. Shannon earned her Master’s in School Psychology from the University of South Carolina. During graduate school, she worked at the Psychology Services Center in Columbia, South Carolina, and at the Unumb Center for Neurodevelopment (formerly known as the Autism Academy of South Carolina) as a therapist, social skills group leader, and counselor for teens with autism. Shannon also worked at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in the Division of Psychiatry, where she ran two nationally funded clinical drug trials focused on reducing the core impairing symptoms of autism and fragile X syndrome. Shannon’s diverse experiences give her unique insight into how different systems intersect and affect families of children with disabilities.
